My mother language is not English, and I've found that music in other languages that aren't English are really hard to come by. Imo media makes a song or a band popular. I never heard of Poets of the Fall before Allan Wake, and while I wasn't fascinated by the game, the songs really blew me away.

Alan Wake was how I discovered Poets of the Fall too! Now they're my favorite group.

Ditto, they skyrocketed to being one of my faves. <3 And it also made me search for more bands and realize that finnish metal is actually pretty good!

Really? Is that because English is privileged in your country and it's in shops and on the airwaves? Because go online and you will find shedloads of non-English content.

Pretty much, yeah. And it wasn't until internet access was widely available that I started searching and listening to non-english/non-USA bands.
