also, they keep saying shit like this "he lives in the southwestern united states. his name is carlos"

What the fuck does that even mean, I don't know shit about the skin colour distribution in the SW USA and I've no idea the skin colour associations with Carlos. The only bit that specifies he's dark skinned is where the radio SAYS he's dark skinned. This latter bits don't mean shit if you're not familiar with the name or...I'm guess SW USA is filled with black people idk.

Point is, that blog is trying way too hard to be SJW.

Southwestern USA has a higher Hispanic population, I think is the idea. Though isn't Carlos not from around there so that kind of has jack all to do with anything???¿¿¿¿¿??

Yep. He moved there. He's a transplant.

And the people who go SJWer on this are being a big ignorant themselves assuming that Carlos = Hispanic = automatically indigenous Americas brown.

But Carlos can be any type of Hispanic that is out there, which means, he can look like anything. From the blond, blued looking Spaniards of Northern Spain to the Afro-Caribbean from The Dominican Republic.

Hell, for all we know. Carlos may not even be Hispanic. He could very well be Filipino.

ayrt

Even more baffled now because Hispanic people are really really not that dark?!

Some are. Hispanic is a social construct and not an ethnic group. The reason for this is that the Spanish were colonizing every where on the planet. Because of this you can have Afro-Hispanics to lily white, red headed Hispanics. Take for example, Peru. There's a large Japanese population there and have been there for generations. Now if the indigenous population of Peru can be called Hispanic even though they actually have no ethnic ties to the original Hispanic invaders, than the Japanese who have been there for generations, whose children and children's children speak only Spanish know only of that culture can be considered Hispanic as well.

Actually, SW US has a really large Hispanic population, which isn't surprising given it's location and history [technically south-central too, since Texas tends that way as well, and shares the history.]

In fairness, 'dark' is a vague term that can be applied to a *lot* of groups of people.

Ah, see I had no idea of this /not american obviously, so I wouldn't expect everyone to know? Especially if we're talking hispanic, because I was thinking maybe they meant black ro something. Hispanic, newer artists would find so much harder because it's not that dark. Especially those anime/chibi styles that don't have defining physiological features.
