4. I would do exactly the same if I felt like carrying my laptop for the half-hour walks it takes to get to my classes.

22. Their actual art style is rather boring at times, yes. Especially in the olden days of Magic Knight Rayearth. They TRY TO MAKE UP FOR IT with DETAILS though, which I rather enjoy. Also, the panel formatting for Clover sometimes got very interesting.

I haven't a clue how I would go about such a thing, except to come right out in some real-time format. And I'm terrified that she secretly is just humoring me and would freak out at me wanting to be more than just fellow writers. And then I'd lose the privilege of talking to her completely.

You may be scared of that, but honestly if you don't perk up the courage to try you'll never know what could happen. I mean, I'm not saying your fears wouldn't come true, because yes there's a chance they might, but there's also so much good that could potentially come of it, and you won't know until you go for it. I mean, I'm secretly afraid that EVERYONE I KNOW secretly HATES MY GUTS and I still got the courage to confess to my crush, and what came out of that is now I've got a girlfriend!

It's just to me, not knowing and thinking about the possibilities is worse than actually having something bad confirmed.

When I talk to her (and I always initiate, never her) I regularly feel that nothing outside of my writing is of interest to her, like she's not at all interested in getting to know the person behind the fic. Isn't that a bad sign?

You always being the initiator is not a good indicator (I mean seriously I NEVER initiate conversation with people because of social phobias and misgivings about people in general, but I still love most of the people I talk to). Also, have you ever... attempted to have conversation about things other than fic? Because I would only see that as a bad sign if you've tried to talk about other things and she became blatently uninterested or moved the subject around back to fic.

We have talked about things other than fic - it's gone fairly well except that she's never as interested/inquisitive about my life as I am about hers, which adds to the feeling of stalkerishness... but she's never turned the subject back to fic.

I don't think there's much hope for me. :/

I wouldn't think you're in a hopeless situation! Give more nonfic conversation a try, do it often, or just... I dunno, ask her what her stand on your friendship is. Some people do not show interest very well (I constantly seem like I am ignoring people or not interested in what they're talking about both online and off, but I usually really am very curious and interested), so unless she seems very very blatantly not caring, it's still worth some more observance. Let her know if she ever has problems or anything you could try to help her (though don't try to be too outright about that) and that she's valuable to you if you don't do anything else.

I can do that. For me the hardest part is finding just the right words, but I can give it a try. Thank you for being so willing to talk to me about it.
