I like them , but only when they're good. A mass crossover usually tends to end up as a mess (unless you handle it SUUUUUPER carefully).

Though the ones I'm thinking of are more singular fics. I'm assuming OP means stuff like SuperWhoLock.

Crosssovers are fun for some people but shouldn't be pushed on other people if they're not interested. If you're not interested you're not interested and that's cool.

I am so sick of seeing Sherlock and Supernatural turning up in other fandoms. At least with Doctor Who there is a slight justification for it, but Supernatards and Sheerluck fics are unbearable.

Classic Who only, no reboot.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-25 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
What makes Classic Who better for crossovers?

Both versions of the show have the same mechanics of time travel, making them equally crossover friendly, although I suppose Classic Who is a bit more parallel universe friendly.

Or is it that you don't read New Who fic at all, because Classic Who fic is better, because in that case I 100% agree.

The people who write Classic Who actually know enough about the show to know how to write. The ones who write reboot might as well stick to Teen-Wangst series dujour.

Bingo!

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you got Butthurt Oldfan Bingo too? *high-five*

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Naw, man, I AM Butthurt Oldfan LOL. Travesty what's become of both the show AND the fandom IMO.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
Are Classic Who fans incapable of enjoying New Who or writing fics that take place within New Who?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Yes.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that's pretty stupid.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
No.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Show me one thing enjoyable about New Who, please. I can only speak for myself but it is within the show's responsibility to present something enjoyable to the audience. Instead of, you know, a solid full hour of a hot mess that does not make one lick of sense, from beginning to end.

AYRT

I understand.. Sad thing is Supernatural I can NEVER bring myself to get into because of the fanbase. Sorry if it sounds shallow but it's true. Sam for Sherlock, which I'm actually really disappointing in, because it seems like a show I would have enjoyed.

Modern Sherlock Holmes. I could have gotten into that considering I'm a big fan of mysteries and law shows like Law and Order. But the fanbase. ....*cries*

SAME HERE. The fanbase has turned me off of ever wanting to try watching those shows EVER.

The fans of certain Mass Effect characters have soured the characters to me (note I'm not taking about Garrus fans)

And I also hate the Aria/Tevos ship due to a fan pitching a fit over the prospect of someone pairing Aria with a female krogan

have you tried Elementary? I mean... Sherlock was okay when I saw it in a vacuum, but now I cringe whenever I watch it or see it because some of the fans are so horrible.

Elementary fans are worse than Sherlock fans. Sherlock fans might be all ship-happy squee girls, but Elementary fans are smug, preachy, ship-happy squee girls.

Supernatards

Congrats, anon, this is one of the most awkward sounding words I've seen in a while.

Superman/Naruto crossover?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, it makes me think of people who are really keen about supernatant.

Fuck pellets, man. Never staying put.
