Thanks to the typographics of this secret, I just read the word "crossovers" as "grossovers". This is so becoming a part of my vocabulary.

I like them , but only when they're good. A mass crossover usually tends to end up as a mess (unless you handle it SUUUUUPER carefully).

Though the ones I'm thinking of are more singular fics. I'm assuming OP means stuff like SuperWhoLock.

Crosssovers are fun for some people but shouldn't be pushed on other people if they're not interested. If you're not interested you're not interested and that's cool.

Well, fair enough. I do like a good crossover when it's well done, but I definitely agree that the megacrossover stuff is pretty annoying, as are fusions.

Okay. You don't have to like every genre. I don't like dystopia style fics.

As long as they don't involve twilight, don't use it as an excuse for shipping two actors the inevitably teenaged writer finds hawt, and limit it to just two shows, they are tolerable.

Now fusion fics, with the one exception of Ranma/Sailor Moon for the sole reason of fuku-ficcing, need to all DIAF!

But yeah. Most crossovers are an overdone mess with too many ingredients in them to be even slightly readable. The authors need to learn a little restraint.

And they certainly need to learn not to nerf one or more of the shows just to make their one true chosen movie team look so utterly awesome and be the awesomest awesomes ever. Fucking Joss Whedon fans, they all need to DIAF2.

I usually like crossovers, but then most of the ones I come across/read only involve two fandoms. Nothing like the Portmanteau of Doom.

Ugh, agreed. Especially the 'big four' thing. I just want to read HTTYD fic, not some mash-up with every other animated film. Plain old HTTYD fics are getting hard to find these days....

I honestly haven't read one in a loooooong time, but I sometimes draw them and enjoy comic/art crossovers. In fic I much prefer fusion.

I like them all right if I feel like the author really put some thought into them, that there's a good reason behind this crossover, good world-building etc. I hate crossovers that are lazy and cheap and just a random attempt at throwing different stuff together, whether it works or not.

The only crossovers I LOVE are His Dark Materials crossovers because daemons are awesome.

I prefer art crossovers/fusions myself. Or crossovers of old fandoms with new. Fusions are where it's at for me.

I really like crossovers and fusions, but I haven't read any of the SuperWhoLock ones that try to crossover a billion shows. There was one Buffy story back in the day that was enormously long and crossed over with just about every television show ever made. It was not a good story (although I will cop to being entertained at times). LOL That what these huge crossovers remind me of.

Is it weird I wish more people wrote AU crossovers where characters form one universe were slipped into another and given alt! histories.

Harry's life as an alchemist? DUDE, I want me some of that! Danny Fenton is a muggleborn wizard? GIMME. Korra is trying to survive in one of the 12 districts? HELLS YEAH

HarryxDanny slash where they're both all angry at the world because EVERYONE they know has hurt and failed them? ...Eurgh pass.

I'm with you, OP. I cannot stand crossovers and they have to be done really, really well for me to be able to enjoy them. And I mean where the crossover is thought out, makes sense and written well.

I don't mind fusion-type stuff here and there, like little things involving fanart and such, but it really has to be good in order for me to sit down and read a fanfiction about it.

I read Hogwarts AUs and this brilliant Cabin Pressure/The Avengers crossover where Tony is paired up with Martin and it is amazing and I wish there was more...

Other than that I don't do crossovers, mostly because they don't interest me, I guess if someone linked me to anything I would probably read it, I don't like A/B/O fics either, but I have found a couple that I liked.

That mess? Sure, I can understand hating that.

But I've also read a great Labyrinth/Harry Potter crossover.

And a great XMFC/Inception crossover.

So I'm having a hard time understanding people who say that they hate all crossovers, or that all crossovers are awful. Dismissing an entire genre strikes me as weird.

I don't really like crossovers in a general sense. Especially if it's a crossover for the sake of pairing two characters from different canon universes. I understand it, I just think that it's dumb.

Crossovers I'm divided on. The Giant Portmanteau of Doom stuff I don't care for, since they're usually just there to ship Two White Guys and that's about it. (From what I've seen anyways)

But imho, I'd rather take a fusion fic AU over a coffee shop/high school AU.
