That breaks my heart. I love Nintendo... but I don't have a WiiU yet. :(

I only want it for the first-party titles anyway. Life without Mario is not worth living.

(there is a certain level of schadenfreude involved given that the market they were catering to was clearly unsustainable, and this was virulently denied by the worst sort of fanboys)

p.s nintendo please move your flagship titles into the twenty first century. Decent stories, proper voice acting, and evolving gameplay are a must.

...voice acting...[is] a must.

While I agree with your other two points, I have to respectfully disagree about voice acting being a "must", at least from my perspective. I despise voice acting in my video games, and if there's a way to turn it off in the settings, I do. It's probably one of the main reasons I haven't been nearly as an avid gamer in recent years as I once was. Maybe I'm just old and stuck in the era of the '90s RPG where you were required to read a ton of text on a screen. Some voice actor reading the text aloud to me like I'm illiterate is a deal breaker for me. No text and nothing but voice acting? Major deal breaker. I get that voice acting is a lot better nowadays than it used to be, but I still can't get beyond how painful it was to listen to back when it first stared becoming the new "thing".

[/tl;dr opinion]

yana

when they read dialogue they often read things in a different way (inflection?) I would have, and that takes me out of the story

plus voice acting is more time and money that didn't go to the rest of the game!
