I make exceptions because I can see Kirk being weird enough (or read: enough unlike me, I'm trying to respect cultural differences, LOL) to be totally okay with it, but I hate the idea that they automatically have to be telepathically linked to be together, especially if it's like they can literally read each other's minds when they're ~bonded. Ugh. And there is nothing worse than the whole "Well, I guess I love you because it's destiny, even though I didn't think I loved you before I realized we were bonded" plots, especially because they could be done so well if some actual independently realized emotions were there too.

The Pocket Books made it bondmates out to be like silent CB radio, where the bonded couple was on the same frequency after melding, so to speak, and to TP communicate with others, Vulcans had to be either exceptionally strong, or under extreme duress, emotional or physical. Or be physically touching/in v. close proximity with the other Vulcan.

TL;DR read The IDIC Epidemic and The Vulcan Academy Murders, they are both quite good.

Oh dear lord, seconded. I could maybe read it as a weird kink but most authors don't even realise this means the character has effectively forfeited their free will.
