I had one neighbour tell me he had a phobia of snakes after he reached over and started stroking my boa

Sounds like he thought phobia = not being particularly fond of snakes

A lot of people are like that - but with me snakes really *is* a phobia. A while back I actually had to wait for comments to collapse because someone had posted a picture of a snake. Fun times it was not.
