Best show ever. If I was stuck only watching one show for the rest of my life, this would be the one. One day I will own it on DVD. One day.

Hi, 2wycked.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)

All based on classic literature (or what was contemporary SF of the time, that has now become classic). And that's just what I can recall off the top of my head.

TL;DR gotta go re-watch ALL the Twilight Zone 1980s brb

OP

I was referring to the one in the 2000s that was hosted by Forrest Whittaker. (To be fair, I only watched two episodes, but I didn't have much reason to hope that it would improve.)

AYRT

oops

I must have missed that one, but I was cable-free around that time. Still, the 1980s TZ is every bit as awesomesauce as the original, OP!

Okay, good clarification.

Let's agree that the 2000s adaptation was pretty awful, but the 1980s version was uneven, but is nonetheless an underappreciated gem.

We all cool now?

THIS. The 80's one was great except for a small number of sequences. Unfortunately only some eps are available on DVD.

I spy a Cardassian spy infiltrating the American presidency! :D

is one of the links to the Paladin of the Lost Hour [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paladin_of_the_Lost_Hour]? Because Danny Kaye was wonderful in that episode :D [s1 of the '85 revival]

it's one of my favorites of that particular series

I feel the same.

I also feel the same about the X-Files. Nothing quite matched it for me since.

Maybe give Black Mirror a try (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2085059/?ref_=sr_1) if you haven't already. There are only six episodes, and it might not work for you, but it might push some of those buttons.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 11:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Seconding the Black Mirror rec. It's a little bit like Twilight Zone if it primarily revolved around the ways we interact with technology. Coming from Charlie Brooker it has a twistedly satirical vibe and goes to fairly fucked-up places, but it's one of the more imaginative shows I've seen in recent years.

[Picture is the cover of the TV show "Twilight Zone". it shows a man with pinkish light skin and short dark hair wearing a dark suit with his arms crossed and a sort of smile on his face standing on the doorway to a room containing tons of knickknacks, like vending machines, small rockets, a pyramid with an eye, robots, a puppet, a clock, mirrors, masks, etc.]

It amazes me how relevant this show feels today. It disappoints me that I don't know of any recent shows like it. (That crappy revival a few years back doesn't count.)

(Anonymous) 2013-08-27 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
The man is the show's host, Rod Serling, for the record.

Thanks! I'll add that on page 2.

The Twilight Zone was awesome, and I agree; it would be great to have another show like that on tv. Night Springs (a Twilight Zone homage) was one of the best things about Alan Wake.

Some of the newer eps were on recently UGH. Imo, the show was only good when it was black & white

I've actually just been discovering The Twilight Zone for the very first time this past month. It's so great.

Try Night Gallery - also a Rod Serling series
