(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)Also, stupidly ruins the meaning of Coulson's death and how it brought the Avengers together. Sometimes pandering to fans sucks.

(Anonymous) 2013-08-26 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)It's been a while since I saw it, but I think Fury or Maria Hill implied that Coulson's death was conveniently timed to bring the Avengers together?

(Anonymous) 2013-08-27 12:15 am (UTC)(link)I watched the movie way after the hype, so I was surprised to find out that apparently most of the fandom missed all that??? Or maybe I only noticed because I kept an eye out for it after people mentioned how in denial they were.

It still brought the Avengers together.
XD
But tbh, I recall Joss saying he didn't want to kill Coulson in the first place, so I'm not mad at all.

Getting critically wounded in the line of duty and living is no less heroic than getting critically wounded in the line of duty and dying. It's just the way the dice rolled.

Are you assuming he thought he wasn't actually dying? We've got confirmation that, he did die and was brought back somehow (god only knows how) so... does that really negate the sacrifice or the emotional impact of the moment? He died. He gave his life to try to protect people. Whatever handwave tech/magic/medical wazoo that goes on does not actually take that away. If you watch that scene, he knows he's gone. He's done. And he's made peace with it. Whatever happens after that, does not change that moment.
Or would you like to tell any real life heroes that have been brought back that their sacrifice doesn't mean shit anymore either?
