i wish i didn't hate abc so much that it makes me not excited about this show.

Also, stupidly ruins the meaning of Coulson's death and how it brought the Avengers together. Sometimes pandering to fans sucks.

While it ruins the meaning of his death, it serves to underline Fury's grade A jerkiness. So that's at least something.

It does not "ruin the meaning of Coulson's death." Coulson's death - real or not - did exactly as it was meant to do, and there's really no UNdoing that. For better or worse, the Avengers came together. And being all of a sudden not dead (however that comes to be) doesn't lessen the fact that Coulson was clearly ready and willing to put his life directly on the line.

Getting critically wounded in the line of duty and living is no less heroic than getting critically wounded in the line of duty and dying. It's just the way the dice rolled.

I should be excited. I like Whedon. I like Marvel. But honestly? I've always found S.H.I.E.L.D. to be one of the least interesting parts of the universe.

I'd kill for a Runaways series with Whedon in charge.

The biggest reason I'm looking forward to this show is the hope that there will be someone else for shippers to ship Coulson with.

Oddly enough, I've not thought about shipping yet. (And I'm a huge shipper.) Guess because right now I know jack shit about the other characters. (There's probably been character trailers and random scenes released online but I haven't been keeping up.)

I'm just excited for the show as a whole. But NGL, if Coulson ends up being shipped with someone new I'll probably give the fic a chance; the idea of Coulson/Hawkeye doesn't really appeal to me.

I'll only be watching this show because a dear friend of mine is hyped for this series and their excitement has, admittedly, rubbed off on me a little (even if I'm not the biggest fan of the MCU for the most part. I'm only in it for Guardians of the Galaxy, lmao). Might as well give it a shot, at least.

Other things to ship?

Honey, just because C/C is a juggernaut of a ship does not mean there's nothing else out there. Natasha, Nick, Darcy, Tony, Maria, Pepper, Loki... shall I continue? There's fic and stuff out there for all of this.

Maybe, and I know this might be a lot for you, but maybe you should have looked a little harder before deciding the fandom has nothing else going on. Also, this reeks of "PEOPLE LIKE WHAT I DON'T WAH I WANT IT TO GO AWAY!"

I'm looking forward to it for a multitude of reasons. Shipping is on the list even if it's hardly a priority.

Coulson/May's already slightly started to get written, so I wouldn't be shocked if picked up a little more steam.

C/C has a lot of momentum going for it, though. Even if other things do make inroads, it's hardly as if people are going to just suddenly stop what they've been shipping since summer 2011.

(In the interests of full disclosure, I am certainly a C/C shipper myself, although I will pretty much happily read fic of Coulson paired with anyone as long as it's well written. So it won't hurt me much no matter how it ends up shaking out, but I really can't disagree that more variety would definitely be a good thing.)

Ultimately, I'm looking forward to the show for more of a character I fell in love with when he had less than ten lines. And what I've seen from the new characters makes me really look forward to seeing what they bring to the table. (And I've just fallen hook, line, and sinker for the cast already.)

Shipping is fun, but ultimately secondary. But hey, whatever makes you look forward to the show! :D I hope you end up enjoying it on its own merits regardless of what the fandom ends up doing.

You know, I like the idea of Coulson having at least a little bit of a life outside of SHIELD. So, if he does get a love interest in Agents of SHIELD, I hope it's like that and there will be plenty of fic.

Yeah, I don't really understand why so many people ship Clint/Coulson. I have no issues to it, it's just that they never interacted. If I was going to slash Coulson, I would go for Steve.

am i a bad person for not giving a shit about coulson? we used to get so many coulson secrets but i always thought they just killed him in the avengers because he's the only one that would fit in the fridge
