+1--Runaways can even be written to be independent of other MCU continuities (the Hayes's can just be superpowered and not specifically mutants, etc.) so it can work on its own or get integrated into the MCU if and when need be.

I'd be behind Whedon directing the thing, but I'd just worry he'd try to incorporate his own story arc into a feature film, and really to go that far into the Runaways timeline would be putting too much into one film.
