Is there anyone in Hollywood today who both makes some form of sci-fi or fantasy and has a "good track record" with female characters? Even the filmmakers who're praised for making reasonably good female characters are often criticized for not going far enough (e.g. Joss Whedon.)

mako mori is an awful stereotype though

like, i agree that he does do a decent job with female characters

but mako is not a proof for it at all

Everyone in that movie is a stereotype, so in that context, she is just as much proof as any other female character.
