Arwen's subplot bothers me but that's mostly because it doesn't make any sense. (Tied to the fate of the Ring? Eh?) Then again, while I do think that book!Arwen is actually an interesting character (with her ambivalence regarding mortality/humans), I guess it wouldn't necessarily have been very compelling for watchers. I thought PJ went about very clumsily about her (and Elrond, uuuugh) but her story was always going to revolve around Aragorn anyway.

As far as Eowyn is concerned, yeah, that addition is pretty stupid. Her killing of the Witch-King is awesome, her final moments with Theoden are moving, no need to add still more fighting...

The only thing I like about the Arwen plot is that until the clock comes off, it looks like Arwen's come to Aragorn's tent and then - kabam! - it's Elrond! LOL
