How has everyone's day been? Any plans for the long (for Americans, at any rate) weekend?

Moving.

Got some help this time at least.

Oh, and got (literally an entire) can of CS to the face on wednesday.

Thought I was heavily resistant, but was completely staggered by it. To cut a long story short, was in A&E 4am the next day, the spray was close enough it had covered my eyes in tiny scratches and it'd actually triggered an allergic reaction. So they're pretty much unsure of how I could react to a standard dose now.

Could be no reaction, could in the most extreme cases be anaphylactic shock. Need to follow up with my GP.

Face is a mess, but on the plus side all the damage should be temporary and I've been prescribed no helmets and sunglasses for the next week. Picked out the most LAPD looking ones I could find obviously.

Working. Went out for drinks last night with a friend who's back in town for the weekend so that was a lot of fun.

Also working tomorrow. And then I have Sunday and Monday off which are my normal days off, so it's not a long weekend. At least it should be pretty quiet.

Two of my favorite fics, which disappeared from the internet for some time, have been restored by the author. Wheeee, I'm so fan-happy right now!

Why is America getting a long weekend?

I'm at work...and tired. sooo tired. Just want to go home and do chores and play with pets...

Labour day is Monday :)

Back in the 1890s, politicians wanted a way to appease the labor movement, so they wanted to create a holiday to honor them. But they didn't want to use May Day because they were afraid of socialists, so they went with the first Monday of September. And thus, Labor Day was born.

And then it became a holiday completely unrelated to the labor movement and mostly about having a day off, barbecuing, and mark the point that's the more-or-less official "last day of summer."

Job hunting. Again.

And probably crying a lot.

loooong and really really stressful, so I plan to do very little this weekend other than soak in the bathtub and eat junk food =_=

Just don't get your junk food soggy. That will not help your stress. (I hope things improve, though!)

I used to go to Dragon*Con every year over Labor Day weekend. But I now live across the country and don't have the money to fly there :( No plans this year.

It's been a Week. I'm vaguely doing something with the in-laws this weekend (they are allergic to plans), which is apparently going to involve a "forage walk" because they're hippies and think it's fun to eat twigs? o_0

(But you knew that.)

I've got barbecues to go to tomorrow and Sunday, which I find exhausting just thinking about. /introvert

Homework. This week was,literally, the first week of school so it's also the first week of homework [and catching up reading-wise for those of us who had to wait to buy textbooks.]

I'm disappointed there's no active torrents for Cowboy Bebop the movie, but hopefully it'll finish over the night and I'll watch it tomorrow.

I'm also going to see my friend's for a party, so I'm excited!

Cooking dinner for the family for the first time and staying overnight at my grandmother's to help her when she wakes up.

I'm making slow cooked root beer BBQ chicken, special potatoes and Oreo mini cheesecakes.

Working, being around for my brother and dog since my parents are on vacation, sleeping, oh and Saints Row IV.

Ripping out a whole bunch of a big knitting project because I don't have enough yarn to finish it and can't get my hands on more. (/whine)

I'm just hoping to enjoy having Monday off.

I'm going to finish my wip, then play FFX until I have to return the borrowed TV.

Other than the tiny, invisible piece of glass stuck in my foot, I am good. I have a day off tomorrow so I thought I'd break my hiatus and do a little drinking, after a fun-filled night of shopping with a friend I haven't seen in way too long.

But now I'm sitting here soaking my feet and hoping I don't have to go to the ER. Might as well break my hiatus though cause soaking your feet is really boring.

This foot spa thing is supposed to be heated but it's been like ten minutes and the water is still cold.

Found out that they liked me enough at my summer job to engage me for a long-term gig, which is awesome. At my other job, finally got rid of a terrible deadbeat tenant--who left the place a sty, so I have to spend my weekend cleaning it. Not so awesome, but I'm so glad to be rid of the asshole tenant, I don't mind so much. I just wish I had someone to keep me company while I clean, because I'll probably be at it all day, and being alone in the place creeps me out.

Pretty good! My parents and I were invited to the retirement ceremony of a friend who was a Navy SEAL for 25 years. It was a really beautiful event and it was an honor to have been there. I'll admit that I don't know him as well as the rest of my family does, considering that he's about 18 years older than me, but I've been close to his mother practically since I was born and I consider her to be one of the sweetest and most amazing people I've ever met. My grandparents called her their friend, as do my parents, and I'm happy to continue the tradition. ...Yeah, I'm still kind of riding high off of the good vibes of the ceremony. Moving on (before I start vomiting rainbows here).

Tomorrow, if the weather is decent, I will go to some yard sales, then head to the barn to spend time with my horse and my friends. After that, I will then spend the rest of the day and most of Sunday researching and writing a four-page paper on what defines pulp fiction (as found in magazines in newsstands in the early-to-mid-20th century). With a little elbow grease, I should be done well before the paper is due on Monday at 11:59 PM.
