I kind of do not understand how people can think that one or another TV series is amazeballs!!!11 and made by a bunch of geniuses.

Well, there's Breaking Bad.

Can't argue, didn't watch. I'd give it a try if it didn't contain fifty-seven episodes :/ I have a problem with things that are longer than forty.

You may well be right, though. I've heard a lot of good things about this one.

Emphasis on "bad."

Agreed. I tried watching it and made it through a few episodes before giving up completely. It's not for me and I honestly don't get the hype.

Yeah, but BB is practically the only show out in recent years I'd even begin to describe as high art. I mean, I can understand people not liking it (its themes are not for everyone) but it's also undeniable that it was written, directed, acted, and shot with a skill on par with any film.

...But most shows just don't bother.

/why I hate 99% of television

Really? While I would say BB is my favorite drama at the moment, I think there are a ton of shows (esp on cable) that are aiming high. Few are as great as BB (Mad Men is the only straight drama that I watch that really competes; theres also some interesting stuff in the comedy/dramedy world - Louie is fantastic), but plenty are good. And its not like most films (or books for that matter) are high art.

Ahh, by "any film" I meant "even the highest quality films". That probably wasn't clear - most films definitely phone it in, as well.
