You're not the only one who is sad about this, anon. Though I don't have the same reasons as you, I can absolutely related to using fandom as an escape or even a form of therapy. I only hope that you're able to find other fannish pursuits/outlets that help you deal with your grief. (Are you on tumblr? There's a small, but vocal contingent of McSheppers over there!)

I just don't understand why they're calling it quits this year. It bugs me because the decision to end it seems so arbitrary and without good reason. If the people running it are tired of doing so, then hand it off! It's always a popular event and it keeps the fandom going - why end it now?

I have this same issue with a few other fandom fest type activities (Paperlegends, I'm looking at you!). There would likely be plenty of people willing to take over and keep these events running! Why stop now?

At least there's still SGA_Santa! And the SGA Reverse_Bang.

Alternately, if the people who were doing it stop doing it, START YOUR OWN. Ask if they'll help, and if the say no, figure it out. Otherwise quit complaining.
