Re: Did you parents ever think you were gay (when you weren't)

In don't know for sure, but I sometimes wonder if they do or used to. I couldn't get a date as a teenager (terrible skin and a terminal case of dork-itis) but had too much pride to ever complain or act sad about it. My friends and I weren't really into gushing over teen idols or people we had crushes on at school, so my parents never had any way to get wind of whether I might have crushes and, if so, on whom. Then I moved away for college and never came back except to visit, so once I actually did manage to get a date, I lived far away and my parents wouldn't know unless I told them. For the most part, they didn't know, because we had no precedent for discussing my romantic life so I just didn't say anything. I have been in very few relationships and none of them lasted long. They've been, in general, literally nothing to write home about. It wasn't until I was 25 that I actually bothered mentioning that I had started seeing a guy (who promptly broke up with me a few weeks later) and my parents finally had confirmation that I was actually interested in the opposite sex. I sometimes wonder if, up until then, they thought I might be a closeted lesbian or asexual. That was years ago I haven't mentioned any relationships since.

SA

I suppose, alternatively, they could think I'm getting laid with random dudes all the dang time and just never said. I dunno.
