They wanted to leave?

(Anonymous) 2013-09-01 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
We already know that The Powers That Be did not treat them as well as they should have and that they had both wanted to leave the show the first chance they got.

I didn't know this! And my google-fu is weak today because I can't find anything about it other than the cast didn't want to do another series because they thought the fifth was the appropriate ending for the show. Anyone have backstory or links about how they were treated/why they wanted to leave?

I've looked for gossip on this too as i've never believed for a minute the writers or TPTB wanted this world viewed big paying show to go off air. I thought for a long time that they were together but had an ugly breakup and expected that Bradley or both guys would refuse to resign after the contracted 5 seasons.

My theory going on body language, lack of joint interviews etc is that they broke up and that suprisingly Bradly was the one pretty cut up about it.

IMO Bradleys co-star relationships have bearding written all over them because he's the sporty leading man type. I think because Colin plays quirky roles his sexuality is not such an issue.

I think the OP just means that this could have been part of a hypothetical conspiracy theory; not that they were actually treated badly.

From all accounts the cast was pretty happy, but they were contracted for five years and were ready to do other projects. There have been a few hints here and there from Bradley that he was frustrated at Arthur's lack of development, but nothing drastic.

It's all very understated among the cast members since they're all quite professional as actors, but during Cold Con the actor of Gwaine, Eoin Macken, said TPTB were a bunch of control freaks re: the show.
