Am I allowed to be as sad that Wash died in Serenity as I was that Book died, or does mourning that white character make me a racist fuck, too? I'm just trying to understand the logic.

And Coulson should have stayed dead, and we should have gotten a show about Nick Fury and Black Widow. It would have been fucking badass. Who the fuck wants to watch a show about regular shield agents? **pressed forever**

Yeah, but they would have had to be completely recast since ScarJo and SLMFJ don't have the time or the price bracket for TV. This way we get fun SHIELD stuff that can weave into the movie series without fucking up everything.

I don't think they're bothered by the mourning. More the shippers who happily shove Mako to the side and insist Chuck should somehow survive so he can be with Raleigh and they can have their hot white guy sex.

That is so fucking stupid. 1)Mako/Raleigh isn't even the biggest pairing. It is the two science dudes. 2) Writing a fic about these two dudes does not take away from the fics being written about Mako/Raleigh. Fics are not some kind of finite source.

This is not a rant directly at you (unless you believe this), but at people who rationalize this.

But both of your points are kinda the main point to me anyway. Here is this lovely diverse world, yet the main pairing is two white guys, and people only really seem to want to write fic about two white guys, whether it is the science guys or resurrecting Chuck so he can be paired with Raleigh. Yes, fics are not a finite resource, but it somehow always seems to be about the white guys even when people don't have the excuse of there being "no interesting women/PoC to write about!"

To raise a point though, I have noticed more people talk about Wash's death than Book's.

Tbh I feel more cheated over Book's death because we never got to know his story.
