Inspired by no. 6!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Have you guys ever cosplayed? If you have, who did you cosplay as?

I haven't yet, but I was considering going for Wii Fit Trainer. Suppose I use the white paint/make-up stuff that Homestuck cosplayers use.

I cosplayed as Sakura from Tsubasa once. It was fun, but I had a lot more fun just exploring the con with my sister and asking to take other people's pictures.

I made up a Wendy Watson costume for Halloween one year. Nobody got it, of course.

I would have gotten it, nonnie! And thanked you for saving the world so I don't have to.

I've done a joke No Face cosplay and I was going to cosplay Rule 63 Bakura at a con this year but couldn't make it. I really want to cosplay Princess Peach.

I haven't because I don't have the opportunity. I don't have any friends that cosplay, I don't even have any friends that live near me. And there are never cons anywhere near where I live. But I am putting together a costume anyways and will just wear it at home alone. It's the putting together the costume part of it that has always appealed to me and there's no reason I can't do it.

Go nonnie! Who are you cosplaying?

I've thought about it, but it seems kind of expensive for something I'll only do once.

I did go as a "pokemon trainer" once though. Haha I just put a hat on, attached some pokeballs to my bag and pinned a pikachu to my shoulder.

I have cosplayed too many characters to list in the last ten years. It's why I go to cons, mostly. Cosplaying with friends, who also cosplay. Or seeing friends who don't cosplay. (In light of the secret, I will note that this is perfectly fine with me; as long as they're not embarrassed to be seen with me dressed up as video game characters, it's all good!)

Wii Fit trainer is a hilarious idea! I'd actually recommend a full bodysuit though - body makeup is messy and time-consuming and frustrating. (They're not actually hard to make, or you can order from a dancewear site.)

No, because everything I want to cosplay has a fuckton of armor. I also don't have the money or time. It would be fun though.

Me and my friends pulled together a last minute TF2 team two years ago for a con and I was a gender-swapped Heavy. We also had a Sniper(a guy), a lady Medic and a lady Scout.

I always have grand ideas, but they fall apart because I'm lazy. I've cosplayed as Krad from DNangel, Xigbar from Kingdom Hearts, mechaKara (a character from Linkara's show on TGWTG), humanized Moltres, Jareth from Labyrinth, and humanized Applejack. I'd like to someday cosplay Angua from Discworld (armor is a pain), Cynthia from Pokemon, a female version of a Batman villain (Riddler, Scarecrow, Ventrioloquist, or Two Face), Disney's Cinderella, and Dinah in her Plague dress from Bizenghast (that one will never happen.)

Angua and Cinderella would both be badass. Don't think I've ever seen either one of them in person before. Lots of Disney princesses, never a Cinderella...

Let me try to remember the whole list. :P

- Rock Lee (Naruto) - first costume, very amateur-looking but fun nonetheless
- Jessie (Pokémon) - with my friend/partner in crime O.A. as James
- Itsuki Koizumi (Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) - bad wig, got no recognition :(
- Light Yagami (Death Note) - with O.A. as L and another friend as Misa
- Tate (Pokémon) - with O.A. as Liza; this was a fun one c:
- Bird Keeper (Pokémon) - short-lived and very closet-cosplay; very unrecognizable
- Tenho (The World Ends With You)
- Kiri Komori (Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei) - absolutely no one is in the fandom, it seems. :(
- Graham Specter (Baccano!) - definitely my most successful and favorite! But my wrench broke. :c
- Mari Illustrious Makinami (Evangelion) - store-bought, but the store was in Harajuku, so I figure that gives me street cred. c:

FUCK YEAH GRAHAM! And I'd say breaking a wrench is pretty in-character, so no worries. :P

...SZS had a fandom for a good while (I was in it!), but it seems to have died down. :(

Half-assed Death (of the Endless) costume, then Homura Akemi (Puella Magi Madoka Magica,) and I'm currently working on a Blake Belladonna (RWBY) costume and sort of starting an Annie Leonhardt (Attack on Titan) costume.

I cosplay sometimes! Been awhile since I did it, though. Money issues.

The first cosplay I ever did was Komugi from this obscure anime I liked at the time called SoulTaker. (I still like the show okay, but I like its goofy self-parody spinoff better.)

My favorite cosplay was as an Alchemist from Ragnarok Online. The dress was cute, I had something like the Boys' Cap, and I even had a wagon full of broken shit to pull behind me! A lamp that didn't work, some old books I didn't like, ancient VHS tapes, stuff like that. The hilarious thing was that people offered to buy the shit. They would stop me in the corridor and ask if they could look through my stuff and see if they could convince me to part with the busted lamp or whatever. (I refused because, even at age 16, I was too honest.)

Next year at MAGfest or Con-G, I'm going as Humanstuck Meulin. I can't wear the makeup for a proper troll cosplay because my skin is horribly sensitive, but I can get away with wearing her normal outfit and sticking some cat ears on in place of her horns.
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

I've cosplayed as... Well, maybe not a lot of things, but a handful!

But the most dramatic moment was when I was Nishi from Gantz. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a wig and a black leotard top thing in the middle of summer, in fucking Baltimore. I had to go back to the hotel and change before I fainted. D:

...Oh, and I think my favorite was when I went as a generic steampunk mechanic girl. It was actually comfy and I had goggles and suspenders and lots of other neat stuff.

First ever cosplay was of Ty Lee back in high school.

Then in college I've done Kallen from Code Geass, Amy Pond, and a femme!Fourth Doctor.

I'm thinking of doing either Glinda or Dorothy for next year's general con, and perhaps Sakura from Madoka Magica if I go to this other anime con with a friend.

Orihime from Bleach, Gojyo from Saiyuki, and Youji from Weiss Kreuz.

For Orihime I actually even made a little Tsubaki out of an old Ken doll. XD I was endlessly amused that he got more attention than me.

Edit: Crap, I was also Kuukaku from Bleach as well one time.

Just twice, both when I was around 16, both closet cosplay and objectively TERRIBLE. First one was Duo Maxwell, which involved plain black pants, a black t-shirt with a notch cut out of the collar, and white fabric TAPED to the inside of that and around the cuffs, with a black baseball cap and a brown yard braid. Which was tied to the cap. I didn't even do bangs. Second time was getting roped into cosplaying Hisoka with a few friends at the time, and involved a borrowed and slightly too small denim jacket (with my own jeans and orange t-shirt), and REALLY bad yellow (!) hairspray.

For the record, my natural hair is almost black and curly.

I did not pull off playing skinny teenage boys very well.

I have considered cosplaying again (ten years later!), but it'd be more, um, manageable. Like, regular clothes, maybe a Night Vale Community Radio t-shirt, and a name sticker that says, 'Hi, my name is Intern [name]'. That's easy, right?
