Inspired by no. 6!
(Anonymous) 2013-09-04 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)I haven't yet, but I was considering going for Wii Fit Trainer. Suppose I use the white paint/make-up stuff that Homestuck cosplayers use.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-05 12:07 am (UTC)(link)I did go as a "pokemon trainer" once though. Haha I just put a hat on, attached some pokeballs to my bag and pinned a pikachu to my shoulder.
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
Wii Fit trainer is a hilarious idea! I'd actually recommend a full bodysuit though - body makeup is messy and time-consuming and frustrating. (They're not actually hard to make, or you can order from a dancewear site.)

Re: Inspired by no. 6!
- Rock Lee (Naruto) - first costume, very amateur-looking but fun nonetheless
- Jessie (Pokémon) - with my friend/partner in crime O.A. as James
- Itsuki Koizumi (Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya) - bad wig, got no recognition :(
- Light Yagami (Death Note) - with O.A. as L and another friend as Misa
- Tate (Pokémon) - with O.A. as Liza; this was a fun one c:
- Bird Keeper (Pokémon) - short-lived and very closet-cosplay; very unrecognizable
- Tenho (The World Ends With You)
- Kiri Komori (Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei) - absolutely no one is in the fandom, it seems. :(
- Graham Specter (Baccano!) - definitely my most successful and favorite! But my wrench broke. :c
- Mari Illustrious Makinami (Evangelion) - store-bought, but the store was in Harajuku, so I figure that gives me street cred. c:
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
...SZS had a fandom for a good while (I was in it!), but it seems to have died down. :(

homestuckcosplayhelp.tumblr.com probably has links to tutorials
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
The first cosplay I ever did was Komugi from this obscure anime I liked at the time called SoulTaker. (I still like the show okay, but I like its goofy self-parody spinoff better.)
My favorite cosplay was as an Alchemist from Ragnarok Online. The dress was cute, I had something like the Boys' Cap, and I even had a wagon full of broken shit to pull behind me! A lamp that didn't work, some old books I didn't like, ancient VHS tapes, stuff like that. The hilarious thing was that people offered to buy the shit. They would stop me in the corridor and ask if they could look through my stuff and see if they could convince me to part with the busted lamp or whatever. (I refused because, even at age 16, I was too honest.)
Next year at MAGfest or Con-G, I'm going as Humanstuck Meulin. I can't wear the makeup for a proper troll cosplay because my skin is horribly sensitive, but I can get away with wearing her normal outfit and sticking some cat ears on in place of her horns.
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
But the most dramatic moment was when I was Nishi from Gantz. I was wearing a sweatshirt and a wig and a black leotard top thing in the middle of summer, in fucking Baltimore. I had to go back to the hotel and change before I fainted. D:
...Oh, and I think my favorite was when I went as a generic steampunk mechanic girl. It was actually comfy and I had goggles and suspenders and lots of other neat stuff.
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
Then in college I've done Kallen from Code Geass, Amy Pond, and a femme!Fourth Doctor.
I'm thinking of doing either Glinda or Dorothy for next year's general con, and perhaps Sakura from Madoka Magica if I go to this other anime con with a friend.
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
For Orihime I actually even made a little Tsubaki out of an old Ken doll. XD I was endlessly amused that he got more attention than me.
Edit: Crap, I was also Kuukaku from Bleach as well one time.
Re: Inspired by no. 6!
For the record, my natural hair is almost black and curly.
I did not pull off playing skinny teenage boys very well.
I have considered cosplaying again (ten years later!), but it'd be more, um, manageable. Like, regular clothes, maybe a Night Vale Community Radio t-shirt, and a name sticker that says, 'Hi, my name is Intern [name]'. That's easy, right?
