I forget, was Ruffalo!Hulk supposed to be his own character, an extension of Norton!Hulk, an amalgamation of Norton and Bana, or what? Because Bana!Hulk was very obviously a research scientist in the medical field, and would have had sufficient training to do Doctors Without Borders work. And all I can remember about Norton's Bruce is that he was enough of a douche to get his radioactive poison blood into food when he worked in that Slurm factory, and that does not seem medically sound. Of course, while watching Avengers, I assumed the implication was, since Ruffalo is a new Bruce in a new movie, we are to run on what we're shown, and that is that he does have medical training.

Bruce Banner's movie backstory is a clusterfuck, is what I'm saying. Be glad he was as cohesive as he was.

OP

I had the impression that (given the Star Industries logos and the appearance of Tony Stark in the Norton!Hulk movie stinger) the Norton movie was part of the MCU canon. The Bana movie, I haven't seen addressed in any way, and I kind of assumed it wasn't included.

You make a good point about backstory clusterfuck, though. His characterization was all over the place between movies, too.

Norton!Hulk is canon, Bana!Hulk is not. In the Norton version, he was creating a serum he hoped would make soldiers immune to radiation, so his work in MCU has always involved the human body. I hope he had some degree of anatomy/human biology education for that. And then in South America he was trying to cure the Hulk with plants, so at some point he became a botanist too :P

So hey, if Tony can become a nuclear physics expert overnight, I think we can forgive Bruce a few extra doctorates.

IIRC, the getting his blood into the drink was an accident - and he even stopped (or tried to stop?) the packaging line to try and get that bottle out of the line/make sure his blood hadn't gotten into anything someone was going to drink.
