(Anonymous) 2013-09-06 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, he'd have a lot of background knowledge, but most of it is actually probably going to be pretty narrow and filtered through the lens of how it applied to his research. Science and academia have gotten really narrowly focused in the past few decades, significantly favoring depth over breadth. He might be able to do some basic things, but he wouldn't have the diagnostic or treatment expertise of an actual physician. If he found some farmer in India who was suffering from radiation poisoning somehow? Sure, Bruce is your guy. But for diseases more common to the region, his lack of specific training might cause him to make dangerous mistakes.
