Something I've noticed lately is people using pictures of themselves as icons on AO3. It strikes me as odd, especially on more porny works, but maybe it is more normal in western fandoms than anime fandoms.

Of course, I use a picture of myself as an icon, but that's because I'm fabulous.

I don't think it's that common in western fandoms. The only one [western or otherwise] I've really seen it at all is a tiny fandom that's mostly about exercising anyways...so a lot of people end up showing pictures to show off their progress anyways.
