Simon's age role has changed over various generations. In the 60s cartoons, he was the oldest of his brothers, while in the 80's cartoons he was the middle child, as revealed in the episode Grounded Chipmunk when Alvin states he has never been alone, except those five minutes before Simon was born. In the CGI films his age is unknown

I remember the 80's cartoon (and the movie <3), but it never ocurred to me that he was the middle child. I always thought he was the oldest while Alvin was the youngest and Theodore being the middle one.

eta: Or Alvin as the middle child while Theodore was the youngest.

Mind still blown, though.
