It does suck, but on the bright side, I believe that his party didn't get control of the majority vote for the senate, so it's gonna be hard for him to pull any serious shit.

Just keep your fingers crossed that the next three years will show that Abbot was a terrible mistake.

There is that, so hopefully the balance will still be maintained and they don't fuck shit up. Greens got more seats than I thought too

But there is the worry that he's going to fuck shit up. I'M relatively safe no matter what he does (well, as safe as a black, gay female can be) but my friends who survive off penalty rates?! My gay friends who want to marry?! The ones with kids, or need centrelink to survive?! The ones going to uni or have kids in school or the kids in school who need education? The marine parks, the health of the GBR?! The health sector and hospitals, the teacher cuts he wants?
The fuck up he's doing with the NBN is so minor in comparison.

I'm half convinced if Labor hadn't fucked around so much, it wouldn't be so bad. But their constant, on display, internal disputes and fuck ups, I can see why so many (especially those in mining and agricultural based industries) weren't convinced of Labor.

Yeah, but here's the problem. If you add the ALP and Greens members, you get 35, if you add the Coalition and that one DLP guy, you get 34. On paper, that means the left has just that bit more.

But there are SEVEN other members. Xenophon, two Palmers, a Family First, a Liberal Democratic guy who may have got in SOLELY because he was in the first column on the ballot and people may have thought he was, well, the Libs... and the Australian Sports Party and Australian Motor Enthusiasts Party.

Assuming Xenophon sides with the ALP/Greens (he's sided with the Greens a lot in the past) and Family First sides with the Coalition, that's 36/35, leaving... two Palmers, Lib-Dem, the sports party, and the motor enthusiasts party. That is goddamn TERRIFYING for the balance of power!

Plus, if Abbott does get control of the senate? He can pass every single toxic, hateful thing he can think of. If he doesn't, it could go to double dissolution next year, and then the senate will be even more of a clusterfuck than it already is.

It's just... augh.
