That's not the one I use the most, but it happens. Because "merde" and "mercredi" (in French) start off the same way, so it's like saying "FUUU-dge".

Ooh, same in Finnish, but with Friday! (perkele - perjantai)

e: "Same" referring to substituting a day of the week for a swear that sounds similar, not that the swears mean the same thing. Derp.

Ooh, I'm intrigued! Which one is the swear, which one is the day of the week? You never know, I might need to swear in Finnish or to say it's Friday...

oooh, yeah, in french I constantly use "punaise (is it the tack? or the bug? will we ever find out?)" instead of "putain" because you never know when your mom is listening haha

(Bug or tack, now that's a good question! Tacks can hurt if you step on them, but the bugs smell if you step on them and squish them. Sooo, both equally unpleasant. The mystery remains.)

iirc, Spanish "miércoles" (also Wednesday) is used similarly (mierda - shit)
