"Turgid" always makes me laugh. I think I read it in one too many bad PWPs.

Pamplemousse. French for grapefruit.
Squamous, sound only.
And my grandfather's favorite, thingamabopper.

Yessss, pamplemousse is my favorite French word! :D It's funny to say and it even looks funny written out.

My sister really liked the German word for either washing machine or dishwasher, I can't remember. It was pretty amusing.

My mom loves "discombobulated."

I think it's funny that nothing is ever described as combobulated. We only recognize combobulation as an aspect of things when it is absent. Similarly, nothing is ever recombobulated.

One time after the security check at an airport, there was an area with benches and such with a sign hanging over that read "Recombobulation Area". Bless.
starphotographs: ...I'm not that bad, though. And I don't even light things on fire! Well, not regularly... (Izaya (devious))

I can't find it online, but there's an excellent illustration from a Dave Barry book in which he explains that "weasel" is an inherently funny word. There are two pictures, one captioned "Not funny: Richard Nixon wearing a necktie." and the next "Funny: Richard Nixon wearing a neck weasel."

Tvättbjörn, Swedish for racoon. Say it right and you're saying "twat bjorn" with a Bond villain accent which for some reason sets me off like nothing else.
