I liked the two of them until the third book, but I think that was more the fault of me not liking the third book than anything else.

When I first read the Hunger Games, I really liked the pairing.

I still love this pairing, but I love it mostly in AU settings where the last couple of books didn't happen. Or just... things went differently. Because as it happened in canon, I'm almost weirdly happy she ended up with Peeta, even if I find him boring as fuck and don't ship them. By the end of Mockingjay they were all just so fucked up.

I prefer Katniss/Gale earlier in the series, because that's when I feel their personalities just meshed well together. I almost wish the story would follow the story that was set up in the teaser trailer for Catching Fire. It was more Katniss/Gale and it was all about the rebellion, not a reboot of the first film with new players.
