This. My nephew LOVES the princesses, and thank goodness his parents are absolutely supportive of him and let him get the dolls he likes and play how he likes (his favorite is Belle!), but he gets side-eyes and derision from some extended family members and neighbors. It's upsetting.

Belle is a good favourite! Does he like to read?

He loves reading, he's voracious. His parents have to hide their horror novels so he doesn't get into them and scare himself to death! And his dad likes to build things, so I think he sees a lot of himself in Belle. It's adorable.

I recommend finding an angry unshaven man out in the sticks to look after him. Its bound to end in love, or an understanding of what Stockholm Syndrome is.

I feel really bad for laughing at this.

ayrt

Only if he kidnaps his dad first!

No, but funnily enough, he never cared much for the Beast. He played out a scenario with me (he as Belle, me as the Beast/Lumière depending on where he needed me) where he kicked me (as the Beast) out of the castle and made a fort in the library for himself and the rest of us (me as Lumière and the entire set of silverware). It was hilarious.

That's just really adorable. ♥

Seriously awesome on the parents. So long as he has support in his home where it's most critical, fuck the rest of them.

Absolutely agreed. And he's a perfectly happy, healthy kid; he's totally going to grow up to be just as awesome.

When my brother was 4 or 5, he would playact as superheroes regardless of gender.

Like, he would run a short distance away, spin around wildly for a minute, and then run back; when asked what he was doing he would say, "I'm turning into Wonder Woman," in a total 'duh' tone of voice. This was after we got the old Lynda Carter series on DVD and were all watching it together. XD
