Ugh. Worst stuff you've seen online? All TWs apply

[personal profile] fingalsanteater 2013-09-09 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
I followed back a person who has been following me on Tumblr for a while because we shared a few fandoms, but it turned out that THEY FUCKING POST PICTURES OF DEAD BODIES with the tag "#for later" (WHATEVER THE FUCK THAT MEANS). Like, graphic crime scene photos of people with their brains splattered and horrifying shit like that. I'm pretty desensitized, but I really really REALLY don't like seeing pictures of mutilated and dead people.

What's some of the worst stuff you've come across on your dash or wherever?

(Sorry, I just needed to vent because I'm creeped out.)

This one person I follow sometimes posts like...blood kink pics. Which fine, whatever but I hate when she posts her bloody lips and knees and shit. Just...seems really personal and creepy.

yeah, this!

I'm pretty sure it qualifies for this part of their TOS:

Gore and Mutilation Content. Don't post gore just to be shocking. Don't showcase the mutilation or torture of human beings, animals, or their remains.

Urgh, that is super creepy. Although as much as I dislike it and wouldn't want it on my dash, I can conceivably come up with multiple non-kink or psychopathic reasons someone might save/tag #for later such images: inspiration/reference for creepy stories/art being the primary one. I have a super sketchy amount of information on poison in my computer/bookshelves.

I can't really condone them reblogging that with their entire tumblr following without some kind of warning though!

Exactly this! I do similar things, so I kind of understood the thought process right away. (I'm more likely to bookmark Google image searches, though.)

I've reblogged similar things as refs/scientific curiosity - but I always edit the reblog to put it under cut with warnings for my followers in the tags/TW #

jfc that's disturbing.

There was someone on my dash reblogging tons of pictures of plane crashes which was a bit weird (and planes make me nervous at the best of times so ><) but other than that I think I've been relatively fortunate in not coming across really awful stuff.

I guess it doesn't quite fit the theme, but I soooo did NOT need to know how many seemingly normal 20-somethings actually wholeheartedly believe in the Illuminati. Why is this a thing? I mean, it's always been a thing, but I feel like it's become more socially acceptable.

Tumblr is awful for that. And it always springs out of no where. One moment you're scrolling through your dash looking at pictures of SPN fanart, a Tom Hiddleston photo shoot, a few delicious shots of food porn and BAM! A HELLISH SCENE OF DEAD CHILDREN LAID OUT ON THE ROAD WITH THEIR PARENTS CRYING OVER THEIR BODIES. AND THEN CLOSE UPS OF THE DEAD CHILDREN'S FACE!!!!

No. I don't want to see that. Yes, I know the real world is a horror show but, no, I don't want to see that.

I used to have a morbid interest in murders and would read through...it was some criminal history website complete with reports, pictures etc.

I stopped when I saw the video of the russian's murdering someone...the...really bad one with the screwdriver...

D: even remembering creeps me out

oh, and the one time I was watching the 6pm news and they felt the need to show me a video of a random person pushing another random stranger in front of a train (then everyone else at the station going after the guy so yay for that - but I'm even more creeped out by trains now)

It was a long time ago, but I remember this site that went around a while back. It was called "Normal Porn for Normal People," or something like that. I think most of the stuff wasn't too bad, just kind of weird, but people ended up uncovering some pretty fucked-up shit, and then the site just disappeared. The whole thing was really weird, and I kind of wish I knew WTF it was about, but I probably wouldn't really want to know. D:

My manager at work likes to watch really nasty gore videos in the evening part of our shift, I don't watch it but I hear the reactions(and therefore descriptions) from the two guys that like to watch them with him and yeah... I have a pretty vivid imagination, do not need that when I'm trying to work.

As for seeing for myself? I stumbled across extreme anime/manga gore porn when I was 15, pretty sure that's why little phases me as far as fictional stuff on the net goes.

this one time i got a new follower on tumblr. i decided to check out their tumblr out of curiosity - they posted pictures of naked people pooping.
just pictures of naked people taking a dump and nothing else.

i don't think i've ever blocked somebody so hard in my life.

i also unfollowed someone who started to post a lot of really disturbing gore, pictures of dead bodies & vomit.

just no. i go on tumblr for pretty nature photos, not that vileness.

I had a similar experience. I used to be part of a Disney RP group on tumblr. At one point, we got a new Frollo, and I guess they were just really getting into character because they kept reblogging pictures of charred corpses and dead bodies and lots of things to do with fire, but it seriously skeeved me out (and a bunch of other RPers too) that they ended up getting a warning from the mods for reblogging so much graphic stuff.

I also play this iPhone game called "Cause of Death" which I really like, and I wanted to check out the tag on tumblr. It didn't occur to me that other people would be using the tag to post pictures of horrific murder scenes/dissected bodies and talking about real causes of death but I backpedaled out of that tag so fast.

I was randomly searching something fandom-y on Tumblr once and ended up scrolling down to see a post that was a picture of what looked to be some kind of car accident where a car hit a person crossing the street. The picture showed the victim's decapitated body and the, uh, splatter that used to be their head. It was...yeah. Not a thing I particularly wanted to see and I'm glad I scrolled past quick. Fictional violence doesn't bother me in the least but I'm not a fan of real life actual gore (when we watched the 'look at these horrific car accidents full of death' video in Driver's Ed class I ducked my head just enough during the gory bits so that I conveniently couldn't see the TV screen over the heads of taller classmates).

I spent a few months (years?) being super interested in true crime/serial killers, and so I've read a whole lot of disturbing stuff, though I never sought out images and stayed the fuck away from videos like '3Guys1Hammer', because, you know, I have a conscience and don't want to see an actual murder.

One time I do remember coming across a link to a site that compiles pictures of real crime scenes and autopsies, and in a moment of weakness I clicked on it and saw (purported) autopsy photos of the Black Dahlia murder. Suffice to say, not only was it highly disturbing, but it made me super sad as well. Never again :(

That would have me hitting the unfollow button so bad.

Um, when I was new to tumblr I didn't know much about the tags. I like foxes a lot so I looked them up and on the third page or so was the mutilated and dead fox. It was horrifying. Oops. I was careful in the tags after that.

But I wouldn't call that the worst thing I've seen by a long shot. I tend to not remember the really bad stuff because I block it out.

Aaaaaand this is why God invented the archive link.

Don't think I've ever come across anything that creepy. But I really don't care for celebrity faces photoshopped onto porn gifs, and some types of body horror are a definite deal-killer.

The revenge killing of Khadaffi. It was all over the news at one time. He was killed by an angry mob, stabbed in the butt, dragged around etc.

Also burn victims get to me. The Syrians dying from napalm lately... I wish something could be done to help them.

Someone explaining what happens [or at least, what happened to their friend] when a girl gets raped with a tampon in.

Let's just say I am never. Ever. Putting another tampon inside of me ever again after that.

I saw pictures of a fucking creep burning a little kitten in a bathtub (it seems there was a video, but thankfully I didn't see it). Then of course I had to stumble also on those horrific videos of the russian murders (and I didn't even manage to watch them, the preview already made me ill), but I think that image of the kitten is the one that will stay for good. I have never felt such a level of KILLING RAGE before. After that I learned not to click on anything. :/
