Agreed. I don't care how people identify in real life--more power to them if they can actually define some really complex parts of their psyche. (I personally can't.)

But in terms of fic? I'm gonna have to agree with the OP. Having a character identify as one of the rarer sexualities is like the red flag of bad fic, with few exceptions.
