This. People don't give kids nearly enough credit for their understanding of reality. When I was little, if I said I wanted to be a princess, my mom always explained to me that in real life, being a princess is a job with a lot of work that's not very fun at all (Princess Diaries came out when I was a pre-teen, so that was probably helpful haha). It never messed with my enjoyment of Disney princesses. Even now, I love them--not because they're princesses, but because they stand for things like bravery, intelligence, independence, kindness. They can be extremely badass, all the while wearing fancy, pretty clothes with fabulous hair.
