Aw. Well, it happens to us all at some point. Would you like a party that now that you've joined the club? (I'm not being sarcastic. I'm trying to be welcoming. I am bad at this, I know.)

The good news is that this realization doesn't have to ruin fandom. It just means you have to navigate it the same way you do real life in order to have fun.

This. Also I find fandom is sometimes a nicer space than real life in that there are a lot of like-minded people who are easy to find around. If nothing else you can only talk about fandom to keep drama levels low. Hell, we do that in real life, too, by avoiding certain subjects (politics, religion).
