The manga is quite silly and not especially well-written, but some of the fanworks are incredible.

I only got into Hetalia a few motnhs ago (as I am always late to the party) because of season 5.

I love Hetalia for really shallow reasons: beautiful fanarts, historical context so I get to draw costume porn as much as I want, I love to make fun of my own country, I think the stereotyping adds to the fun, I enjoy the many canon AUs.

Oh God, Hetalia has some amazing, intensely historical fanfiction that just makes me squee so hard. The canon's cute enough, I suppose-- I liked it a lot when I first discovered it, but I kind of burnt out on it, despite still liking some of the pairings.
