You probably do have an infection. I'd go to the doctor before it becomes worse.

I can only go next week. Do you think it will be too bad by then? I'm scared now...

I have no clue. All I can say is use over the counter anti-septic medication for the time being.

Call the dentist and ask for an antibiotic. They will usually provide you with that, and it'll keep the infection from getting worse.
