Random, but does anyone but me think Levi/Eren is pretty much 2003!FMA Roy/Ed 2.0? Not to say their characters are identical, but the way fandom plays on the dynamic and their respective roles in the series? Getting a blast from the past here.

I can see that!

I do wonder how fate's going to treat Attack on Titan in a few years. Like, I can see it getting a Naruto-esque reputation if it draws on too long and generates enough wank, but I can also see it aging decently too.

Ohhh, now it makes perfect sense. I never got into RoyEd either, and yeah, I can see the similarities.

I've gotten that vibe too! I've actually been surprised a few times when Eren was super polite to Levi after Levi was arguably rude, only to remember that Eren isn't Ed. I like Levi, but I haven't fallen in love with his character yet because he feels like a Roy-like character to me, and no one is Roy. However, the last couple of episodes have filled out his character more and made me appreciate him more.

Oh.

Levi/Eren is actually a pairing that exists in this fandom, then? That sort of explains everything. All the DNW in the world on my end.

Levi/Eren is HUGE, probably because people disregard the fact that Eren is 15 and Levi is 35, or something (off the top of my head). I'd dare to say it's the most popular pairing. >.> dnw.

They look cute together AS LONG AS you ignore the probably 20 years age difference. (and no, I don't know Levi's age, but I won't believe he's anything younger than 30.)

I'm inclined to believe Levi's in his 20's. I just think the whole military skews on the younger side because everyone's dying all the time and they recruit teenagers.

I think his official age is 34? Or at least that's what everyone keeps saying. I don't know the actual source for that, though, so headcanon away!

(Anonymous) 2013-09-13 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think we have an official age for Levi.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
This is way late, but actually his official age is 34. They released a lot of basic character information - birthdates, ages, height and weight. So yeah, Levi is 34.

The way fandom can treat them? Yes. (Though I still think Levi/Eren ends up way less cringe worthy than Roy/Ed.)

I don't think the better fanfiction plays around the commander/young officer dynamic rather than the characters.
