Likewise. I saw plenty of people saying how he shouldn't have commented and how it was offensive and biting the fans' hand and whatnot. Uh, no. He has a right to not like it/not be interested and to say it. Maybe this will serve as a reminder that not all actors care about your fanfic and they don't want to humor you, just like most of the general population.

Then again, I'm one of those people that liked it better when there still was some distance between the fans and the creators.

All of this

This.

Not every actor is going to react like Misha Collins towards your freaky double-penetration tentavle slash fic, authors. Nor should they feel obligated to.

Exactly, but god do i hate how obvious it is that half the things Misha says are outrageous, yet some crazy fans take it as if it's the word of god

Half the time I really think Misha only says the stuff he does to keep the fans happy, not because he really believes it.

I just think he's trolling the hell out of them to watch them dance.

It looks like he was biting the hands of tinhatters, who are the lunatic fringe of fandom. Possibly this can be extended to fanfic writers/readers, who don't run fandom nearly as much as they think they do.

Yeah, people should remember that the Star Trek movies have been seen by millions of people. Not all of them are even regularly in fandom and a very small minority write fics, so it's not like he bit the hand of the whole fandom.

+1

Same.

I love how the PR writer is on tumblr answering questions, but GODDAMN do i wish there was more distance between him and the crazy fans who only want to talk about slash shipping and how their very-dead-character must be alive and holyshitfuck the SJW jumping on him for not naming LGBT actors while under a gag order
