The prevalence of fanfiction and fandom in recent years has really creeped me out, tbh.

Its fine as a hobby, but I hate how it has affected certain canon shows (I'm looking at you, Supernatural) and it's creepy that there are fans at cons who ask the actors about slash.

It's just....ick. Why would you even think that's acceptable behavior? D:

I can't decide if the writers and actors involved with Supernatural just like fucking with fangirls or are serious. (I'm more on the side of fucking with fangirls, but I dunno. I just started scratching the surface of that fandom.)

They certainly seem to be somewhere in the range between "fucking with" and "ridiculously tolerant".

Though I don't believe claim by one Mister Collins about them writing slashfic.

Fanfiction is as old as fandom/ Nothing 'recent' about it. The first TOS Trek fanfic was written whilst the show was still airing.

I get that, but seriously, people ask about het ships at cons all the time, even if the het ships aren't canon or implied, so fans asking about slash ships is, in no way, "icky"-er than those fans asking about het ships.
