For me, I feel it depends on the type of fic? Like, if it's RPF or porn I get embarrassed about people seeing that as an everyday kind of activity. But something like a gen friendship fic? Eh, not really.

I don't know any of this guy's comments though. So I can't say whether I agree with him or not.

But, eh, I get having second hand embarrassment and here's the thing. The thing is, people are never going to stop thinking all kinds of fic are completely average and everyday things. There have always been those people who hand their 50+ chapter porn RPF fic to the actors. There always will be those people too. Your best way to deal with it, at least the way to make you the least uncomfortable, is to try and ignore it and/or remove yourself from places where this is the norm.
