I can see why he's peeved at being asked about Kirk/Spock. He's shown in interviews that he's a supporter of the Spock/Uhura relationship. Just because he's gay doesn't mean he has to ship Kirk/Spock.

Why can't he be both? To like them together AND see it as a good job/career move? I'm not saying he ships them to the point of reading or writing fanfiction about them. Obviously, he doesn't have time for that!

the funny thing is that your comment proves the point here and shows why this guy had all the right to be rude with certain fans.
Once again another example that proves how shipping slash doesn't mean being pro-gay.
