Nah, you just have a lot of interesting shit that might not have much monetary value, which is fine. To me, the point of collecting stuff has always been, you know, the stuff. I doubt any of my antique anatomical textbooks are actually worth anything, but I like having lots of books full of old-timey drawings of guts and bones.

...COLLECTORS, I IMPLORE YOU. UNBOX YOUR TOYS!

Oh yeah, I have the whole Delano run of Hellblazer. Saving that for a re-read one of these days, assuming I don't get the trade paperback instead.

This. I'm a My Little Pony customizer, and the place I usually hang out is a subforum of a site that's mostly for collectors. The amount of "If I don't buy this 20-year-old toy at a thrift shop, someone might buy it for their kid and that kid might play with it!" makes me want to punch people. And that's not even going into the rage that the current-line collectors fly into whenever an old toy gets reissued and now they "have" to buy Pinkie Pie again to have a full set.

...What's amusing is that you might get it, and like, customize all over it! Which is probably "worse" than anything some little kid would do.

Admittedly, my boyfriend and I have a running joke when we try to go back for a neat toy that we passed up for whatever reason, and someone beats us to it, which goes something like this: "God, some little kid is probably sucking on it right now!" But that's more about lack of appreciation, and would work equally well as "God, it was probably bought by some collector that won't open it!" or "God, someone probably got it to sell on EBay."

Yep, it totally is. Because I know that there are collectors looking for old ponies that will never ever be made again, and yet I still "destroy" their mass-produced bit of plastic with my paint and clay. It's like I'm more interested in enjoying my toys than boasting about owning them or something!
