He wasn't rude. As matter of fact he had stated in more than one occasion that he isn't interested about fanfictions and even less spirk fanfictions and yet people keep asking him instead of, say, ask him about his actual work. Who is rude is the fangirls that keep asking him if he reads/likes spirk, who show him fanarts where he's depicted in sexual situations with one of his best friends, who feel so entitled to fucking ask him if him and Chris Pine are more than friends.
He's a gay actor working in hollywood where gay actors get constantly told that they can't play straight characters convincingly. His Spock has a girlfriend and yet people tell him that they ship him with his male co-star on AND off fiction. Yeah, try to imagine for a moment how a gay man might perceive it and stop assuming that just because star trek was the grandaddy of slash then the actors must acknowledge it and be nice. You know that they only ask him and never Chris or the other actors.
