Ok, I will probably get shit for this, but someone just has to ask this question, right?
Why do you feel the need to pair him off in the first place? Because that's what people in fandom do?

People tend to like pairing their favorite characters up with others.

Like for me, I didn't care about Tai so I didn't spare any thoughts about shipping him.

this is a person who felt the need to bash slash and slash shippers for two years for making their favorite characters OOC, instead of, oh, i don't know, bashing OOC itself which seemed to be the problem in the first place?!
