I'm a huge slasher, but the only slash ship I liked in Digimon was Ken/Daisuke, and that was partly to get Daisuke out of TK and Kari's way, lol. I shipped Yamato/Mimi for some reason, and I didn't really care for Tai.

Secret 3 - Digimon Adventure, slash fandom

Not secret: I love Digimon Adventure, especially Tai, who is my all-time favorite character (I'm almost 18). I've also been ranting about shipping for about two years, taking a very anti-slash stance. I felt like a lot of shippers did the characters an injustice with all the Out of Character that happens in fanfic and fanart.

Secret: After reading a bunch of stuff explaining why people ship slash pairings, I changed my mind on slash and became a closet slash shipper, ironically becoming the same kind of psycho-bitch who ships everything that I once ranted against. I figured out how far-gone I've become because of the pairing of Tai and Matt. Trouble is, I'm afraid to ship it, along with a buttload of other pairings. I don't want to "hurt" my favorite character. But he's not compatible with any of the girls for me. I keep trying to pairing him off, but, unless I resort to crossover pairings, the only one that makes any sense for him is Taito/Yamachi. But I'm 100% sure my Tai muse is straight. It's a mega pain in the ass.

Bonus secret: I can't stand shipping them as kids, but Adventure is where most of the "proof" is.

How the hell would putting him in a slash pairing "hurt" your favorite character? For one thing, he doesn't exist, he can't be hurt by your activities. For another, being in a homosexual relationship is not a damaging experience.*










*Unless there's some form of abuse going on, but that is not a problem exclusive to homosexual relationships.

You're not the only one. There's a pretty good chunk of the fandom that ships Tai/Matt. Tai/Izzy is also fairly common to see in the slash fiction and art that you can find at various places online. And you're not alone in the crossover-pairing boat either. Don't worry, OP. You'd be far from alienated for your opinions where I've been!

...You mentioned "muse." I smell tumblr. But I could be wrong and the "muse" you're speaking of has a different meaning than the one in the tumblr rp/ask-blog community. |D

Tai/Matt was my OTP as a kid.

You're a young fledgling when it comes to shipping, so don't let it bog you down. You can always make up different pseudos and have your het in one and your slash in the other so you feel better, if that helps any.

And for the Tai muse is straight thing... have you ever read manga? The straight guy falls for another guy trope is HUGE.

So don't think of it in terms of gay or straight? It's all about love and compatibility after all. Or at least, that's how it started when I began shipping Daiken (because why wouldn't Ken be attracted to the first one who trusted him and wanted him part of the group and why wouldn't Daisuke go for it because Ken is qt3.14).

Oh man, Digimon secret. That takes me back.

I shipped freaking everything. I loved Tai/Matt, I loved Matt/Sora, I loved Tai/Mimi, I loved Mimi/Sora, I loved Joe/Izzy, Joe/Mimi, Tai/Izzy, OH GOD SO MUCH. I guess if I had to pick a favorite out of them, I was really sweet on Tai/Mimi for a long time, but Tai/Matt was way up there.

It seems my secret was worded incorrectly. I can only fit so much into a 600x600 image.

1- I was never against homosexuality IRL, as some of these posts suggest.
2- I did fight against all OOC, not just slash. It's just the first slashfics I saw were the OOC-a-thons and not well written. I also had run-in with the crazy kawaii-desu yaoi fans before the sane people.
3- Someone smelled tumblr. They are correct. By "muse" I meant more of a writing muse, the little version of Tai in my head who I consult with to make sure he's IC in fic or whatnot, not really a role playing muse.
4- I feel the need to ship Tai because he is my first favorite character. Shipping is a big scary minefield and I'd like to enter with a character I know well.
5- I posted on FS on anon because I just needed to get it off my chest! Thank God you can post anonymously.

I will consider sootyowl's idea. That way, I don't feel torn.
