I hate that first world problems post that's going around tumblr. Like, damn, people can't write a little complaint about trivial shit because other people have it worse? Fuck you.

Also, I read a post that basically said it was racist and horrible for a character to have a thing for Asian women because that's fetishizing Asian women. People can't have types now?

Ha, yeah. Just 'cause i don't have to haul water from a well two miles away doesn't mean i can't angst over my grocery bill or how my car keeps breaking down.

While I'm with you on the "type" thing being okay, and some physical preferences, when I lived in Japan most of the foreign guys that I met very clearly had Asian fetishes. And it just wasn't in a good way. So if I hear someone say "I like Asians" it just makes me roll my eyes a little, even though I don't think it's inherently wrong.

I wish they'd call them "stupid problems" instead. Somebody made a great point once that "first world problems" implies people in developing countries couldn't possibly fret about frivolous troubles alongside their serious ones - you know, just like every human being ever - and it just others them hardcore.

I actually think "first world problems" is kind of insulting. So people in third world countries don't ever have everyday problems?
