The restaurant where I work is loosing money when we open at night. We don't sell enough to cover overhead/labor. The boss doesn't want to close at nights because she isn't sure how to make up the money we'd "loose" by not making sales at nights. As she explained it to me, "If even two people wanted to come, and we miss the opportunity to make a buck..." Apparently the concept of it costing us more to feed those two people than they pay us back on their bill is somehow eluding her.

...At least I am not the manager, and therefore am not responsible for trying to figure out how to get this reality to sink in.

Getting drinks with a friend of mine after work. Just messaged me saying that a bunch of his friends who I don't know that well, or in some cases don't care for, are going to come too. And it's annoying because, I mean, there's nothing I can say to object to it without seeming like I'm being unreasonable, and it also just changes the whole social dynamic - now instead of hanging with someone I know really well, it's going to be a big crowd situation where I'm kind of the outsider.

Not really a big deal, but it's kind of annoying.

I wish more people(anyone besides me really.) wrote/drew my OTP for my current main fandom, or were even just in the fandom.

Fuck Allergies. Why is nothing but Benadryl working for me!?!? ;_; I don't like trying to think though the Benadryl haze, but otherwise I can't breath through my nose.... Fuck Allergies.

Right this second? Annoyed that I'm having to miss class - and, fandom-ish wise, I'm a little irritated that WoW seems to be completely ignoring certain racial leaders for a pretty good chunk of time. [I know, they can't do everything

I'm trying to get a new laptop. Probably won't be able to afford it for like another month or so. Problem is I want a decent one, and not like a $300 that'll suffice for a year or so. (and preferably a MacBook because I... kind of suck at Windows shut up it's embarrassing I haven't used it in like 12 years).

I am 24 and still can't drive and it is really hampering me life but I am terrified of driving.

Also, I need a decent laptop I can play WoW [which I do not play right now] on when I hopefully go overseas. But I can't seem to find one under $900. : /

After seeing one too many posts of, "White people do this" and "White people do that" bashing that has gone from being valid to being ridiculous to being out and out insane*, I am tempted to create a tumblr called "Blame Whitey" where I would make equally insane "white people do this" claims. Like, "White people made me stub my toe on the coffee table," "White people made the dinosaurs extinct," "White people know where Waldo is but they aren't telling."

*I came across a post where the poster claimed that it was cultural appropriation for white people to speak better Spanish than she did. Because Spanish was *her* cultural tongue. The fuck? Spanish is a native language of Europe. You know, the homeland of white people.

Lately, the whole "cultural appropriation" out cry is ironically creeping into stealing from European culture territory.

Like there was another post how white people dressing up Lolita style is cultural appropriation because it was a Japanese cultural thing. Which is ironic given the roots of the Lolita look. Namely Victorian and Rococo. European styles.

I hate that first world problems post that's going around tumblr. Like, damn, people can't write a little complaint about trivial shit because other people have it worse? Fuck you.

Also, I read a post that basically said it was racist and horrible for a character to have a thing for Asian women because that's fetishizing Asian women. People can't have types now?

If a creator says something about their characters but doesn't include it in the canon, I don't consider it part of canon. I don't care if other people do, but I hate that I'm expected to. If it isn't in the canon, then it isn't canon. Rowling can say what she wants about Dumbledore and Joss could give a panel about Angel and Spike's "deviant" sexual relationship, but that doesn't make those things canon. You know what does? Including it in the canon!

So, my male roommate has his friend who is a girl. He was interested in her at one point, but he's got completely ridiculous standards for his chicks (must apparently have .1% body fat, must be shorter than him and he's short, etc). My bro met this girl and has interest, and now all of a sudden, whenever my bro wants to set something up for all of us to go hang out so they can get to know each other better, my roommate comes up with reasons why she'd never ever want to do that, or they had plans to do something else that night, or whatever. Basically, this self-proclaimed "nice guy" is suddenly treating this woman like he's her pimp and I'm about to lose it on him.

I am a rabid older sister. He's never seen that side of me. He's about to.

Also - yes, I know, bro's going to get her info and cut out the cock-blocking middle man.

Parents who are passive aggressive, who openly mock you for wanting a break from job hunting, who are not aware of the vicious cycle started by convincing me I can never drive so don't think about asking, and dare to bitch that I didn't prove myself "worthy" of driving.

Parents who don't appreciate that I need a break after two or three months of applying everywhere close by and getting NOTHING. Parents who will dismiss your efforts. Parents who are hard nosed one moment but then try to act all understanding when I get turned down for a job or don' get a call back and sit there and preach that I'm taking it too personally. Parents who say that after also telling me "I want you to search for jobs as if you won't eat tonight.

Parents who put all this harassment, then dare to say "your whole life is a break".

Parents who approach my self destructiveness as a result of all this stress as if it's just bad behavior from someone who just wants to get their way. Rather than someone who's trying every way they know how to say "I AM CRUMBLING APART. I. NEED. HELP."

I made a post giving my opinion on my own personal blog.

I didn't double check the # of tags I had, and it ended up in the fandom's main tag. It's since been reblogged with lots of negative GIFs and tags calling out others to "sick" me for daring to have an opposing opinion.

There's a reason I usually add a bunch of meaningless, personal use tags before tagging a fandom for my own personal use, and coming home to these notifications was an unpleasant reminder as to why.

Parents who won't. Shut. Up. about their kids.

I don't mean the ones who will talk about them when what they're saying is actually related to whatever the topic at hand is/something really major happened with their kids. I mean the parents who will turn themselves inside out to to find a way to shoehorn their kids into any conversation.

I mean...I know parents say that those of us who don't have kids don't ~get it~...But I think parents like this don't 'get' what it's like to constantly be around someone who will only talk about one thing.

Telepaths in dystopias

One fandom AU scenario (also fictional scenario) I've got really fed up with is the one of telepaths ostracized by the oh-so-mean Mundanes and persecuted by a dystopian regime. Because (a) it's not unreasonable for people without ESP to feel about as kindly toward telepaths as Americans do right now toward the NSA--it would be hellish to live in close proximity to someone from whom you could have no privacy, and (b) in a dystopia, it would make more sense for the regime to use telepaths as an arm of the secret police than to make them its victims. It's just as likely that telepaths would be the pampered darlings of the regime, if not its ruling elite.
