Er, why would you want to hate them? I get going into something THINKING you'll hate it (for whatever reason), but hoping...

Anyway, I don't ship them and they don't do much for me, but I don't hate them either. I don't feel the chemistry even if I find some of their scenes together objectively cute. (If that makes sense.)

But I might be biased because I don't think there should be a romance at all (especially not with Spock, who I prefer to remain single outside fanfic) and like the idea of Kirk/Uhura more anyway. (Ideally Scotty/Uhura would be the canon romance because I actually like that pairing, but different strokes, we can't always get what we want, etc etc.)

Scotty/Uhura because of the final frontier movie? I don't remember scenes in TOS that would make me believe that they were more than colleagues and then in TFF they suddenly have a 50 something Uhura acting flirty with him while was under Sybok's brainwashing power and they never talk about it again. Unless you make up your own head-canons, they never got together and were never developed as a romantic couple on screen.

She was flirting with him BEFORE that and then it got weird under Sybok's influence so then it was dropped between them.

She did openly flirt with Spock at least twice in the original series but this doesn't make them a canon couple either (in tos at least)
Besides, while she was under Sybok's influence it was clear to me that she had never acted like that with Scotty before and it's the very reason why he knew she wasn't herself. It was bad but I don't think they were more than friends before and after the fact so it didn't ultimately affect their relationship.

I'm surprised there aren't more Kirk/Uhura and Uhura/Chekov shippers (or even Uhura/Sulu) since she had way more subtext with them than with Scotty. I guess it's because shipping her with Scotty doesn't clash with other shippers? (K/S, Sulu/Chekov..) and while Scotty fell for some girls in the series and might have relationships, like the one with Mira Romaine, that should be considered more canon than Scotty/Uhura, no one cares about them because they're secondary characters.
