(Anonymous) 2013-09-14 12:03 am (UTC)(link)I read about an informal study that demonstrated that nearly half of adult women [at this one college campus in the U.S. - I said it was informal] tend to be closer to a "column" shape than any other body type. That is, they may have a defined waist that is smaller than their bust or hips, but the difference in proportions isn't as extreme as it is with a proper hourglass figure. According to this study, hourglasses are actually only something like 8% of the population. (Most of the rest are apples or pears with some miscellaneous types thrown in.)
Now, that's something that makes me feel good about my body. It has become abundantly clear that I will never be the classic 36"-24"-36" because while I can give you one of those at a time, I cannot do all three at once. Gain enough weight for a 36" bust and have a waistline much bigger than 24". Loose enough weight for a 24" waist (highly unlikely to be feasible for me, anyway) and say bye-bye to that 36" bust. I can never win, but apparently most women can't.

(Anonymous) 2013-09-15 01:50 am (UTC)(link)Having people automatically decide that you're a whore if you wear anything remotely tight (protip: that's going to be your whole wardrobe if you don't want to look your Mom) and have a bunch of gross dudes leering at you all the fucking time? Oh yeah, that's definitely what I want.
I hate it.
