I've always been more in line with, "You care about this issue even though it doesn't directly affect you? Wow, you must be a compassionate person! YAY!"

I mean, sure, there are some bad allies out there only in it for the points, but I highly doubt they're the majority like some people seem to act. I've yet to see a n ally co-opting the cause or anything.

Following this, I really hate the "You think you deserve a cookie, now?" crowd (God help me if you say "fee-fees"). Imagine, thanking someone for a positive act makes them want to do it more. Making someone feel good for making you feel good should be a good thing, not something to be mocked.

Not to mention, a less than perfect vote on my side is still better than a vote for restricting my rights.
